ODYSSEUS

Hungarian Yacht Academy

Odysseus is an education sailing yacht for the Hungarian Yacht Academy lead by Tibor Vass. In 2011 Odysseus suffered a major electronic system damage caused by lightning strike in Punat / Croatia. Our team were commissioned to redesign and install the entire power, navigation and communication system. The expectations were extreme in terms of reliability: Odysseus passed already more than 140.000 nautical miles and sails over 10.000 miles with 150+ cadets annually in various weather conditions.
Installed devices: Mastervolt & Garmin digital switch system with 6 chartplotter and 60 different devices: Garmin VHF DSC, standard Horizon VHF DSC, iCom MF-HF DSC, AIS, 7 GPS transmitter (5 redundant) 3 monitors, boat PC, 12x multi-screen, radar, navtex, 2x AlphaPro charger regulator, 2x speed sensor, 2x sonar sensor, 2x camera, engine and battery management & monitoring. Interesting fact: a fully redundant managing and monitoring system with video surveillance system installed in the captain’s cabin further improving safety on board.
